Sorry for my belated announcement I had such a hard time choosing a winner as all your entries were so wonderful. In the end I decided it might be best to use the random number generator and have finally found the winner of one of these beautiful little guinea pigs.
The winner is comment number 4 Megan congratulations 🙂
If you would so kindly email me at email@example.com to claim your prize I will have it mailed to you first thing Monday.
Thank you so much to all the entrants and I can’t wait to reach some more wonderful milestones so that I can give more of my beautiful toys away 😀
First of all I wanted to announce that I have completed my piece for the “Colloborate for a cause”. I’ve been working on that with the lovely ladies Kylie and Kate from 1 Ruby road and From Annabel’s Armoire. They’ve been so great to work with and such busy mum’s themselves. I’ll load a sneak peek for you here of my work and when we’ve all finished I will load the final work by all of us.
So This week we also hit the big 400 fans and I can’t believe it. As promised we will be doing a giveaway yay! We will be giving one lucky Pup ‘n Bray fan their choice of one of our beautiful guinea pigs from our “Squee” collection valued at $20.
To enter the give away simply comment below why you’d like to win. Entries will close Friday 8th of July at 8pm AEST and the winner will be announced at 8:30pm.
Good luck 😀
This week I’ve had a lovely time filling my craft journal with lots of exciting and wonderful ideas and I also spent the week crafting some very pretty items using a very old method of needlework which I can’t wait to share. It was something I dabbled in as a teenager and since have always wanted to try it again. I have some really ambitious plans for it but for now I will keep those to myself 😉
I’ve also joined up with 1 Ruby road for the “Collaboration for a cause” which is the very clever idea hatched by Ainslee fox handmade. It’s caused quite the commotion (in a good way of course 😉 ). I certainly can’t wait to start on the beautiful Project Kylie of 1 Ruby road and myself have been emailing back and forth sharing idea’s about. Her work is something I have admired for a while so I kinda felt like the nerdy kid being chosen by the popular kid for their team at school hehe. But we have some great idea’s and I can’t wait to make them come to life and will be nice to know I’m doing something that could be helping someone in need.
I’ve also been working on a beautiful little bear and wanted to share a little preview of her with you. Her name is “Mae”. She is not yet completed but she is turning out to be much cuter than I anticipated and I felt the need to show someone. She is made with my own pattern as all my toys are and once complete she will be available for sale.
The last couple of weeks I have been working hard on some new designs. Creating new patterns and throwing the results to the yes and no box and honestly some of the no’s just need a little tweaking. Hopefully one day I will find the time and motivation to drag them out and do just that.
I have to say though working with faux fur has been a little challenging. It’s most certainly not my favorite fabric to work with but the results are just beautiful and so are the furs themselves so I just couldn’t resist having a shot at it.
Now I will leave you with some pictures of the beautiful toys I have been working hard to create. My toys can be found for sale here:
Pup ‘n Bray is fairly new to facebook and the handmade community and after being here only a short time I can’t help but notice all the posting and chatter about “Copy catting”.
I wanted to post today not about copy catting but about what it is that inspires me when I work. I feel that if you’re not a “copy cat” then there must be something that feeds your creative spirit. For me I would say a huge part of my inspiration for any of my creative outlets is music. When I listen to music my mind travels to that place far away and I get lost in it. No matter what I’m doing be it writing, sewing , drawing, painting etc.. Music is what takes me beyond the mundane everyday in front of me and to that place where my thoughts all seem to explode. That’s not to say that every time I sit down and play some music that I have all these brilliant ideas. More like maybe 1 in 100 are even worthwhile.
It’s nice though to have that place to go to where my day dreams sometimes have the chance of becoming a reality. I couldn’t for a single second imagine copying someone else’ s work as I would just not feel fulfilled. Not to mention that I have so many ideas going on in this crazy ol head of mine that not to use some of them would be a waste.
Lately I have been so busy working on orders that half the time I don’t even know what day it is. Sewing everything by hand is often painstaking but I also get a kind of relaxation from it too. As the weather cools there just seems like nothing better than curling up on my chair at my desk in front of the heater with a cup of tea and a project in my hand.
However I can’t wait until I get the chance to try some of my new ideas out. I have so many and they keep me awake all night thinking about them. I would love to share with you what I’ve been thinking about but I do like everything at Pup ‘n Bray to be top secret.
Anyhow I’m sure I will be sharing some of these new creations with you all real soon. But for now I will leave you with some of the beautiful custom orders I have been working on of late.
I can’t believe it’s Monday already. Where did the weekend go? I’ve been working so hard to get all my commercial and custom orders ready by their deadlines I think I completely missed the weekend. But at least I enjoy my work. Each little deer I create takes about 2-3 days to make as I sew every piece large and small by hand. Yes that’s right every stitch is done by my 2 hands. I feel like hand stitching everything makes it just that much more special.
